What is a Retirement Home
It was the weekend and I needed to finish my report before Monday. Our teacher in Social Studies gave us an assignment about institutions that better serves the community. Realizing it would be good to let my classmates see the reality of today’s society, I opted to give them a glimpse of what a retirement home is all about.
I visited a retirement home based in our very own neighborhood and I myself learned a lot. Typically, a retirement home is a residence for our senior citizens. Either a person or a couple in their senior years are taken care of here when the reach the appropriate retirement age. It is a facility with complete amenities for meals, recreation and even gatherings. Even the sick elderly can be found in these homes, though it is very much different from health care facilities like nursing homes. It was a relief to discover that there are people who are well-equipped to take care of our elderly.
